It’s hurt; I Quit!
In the beginning, the affection was real
Burning with love and attention
Given to me in my loneliness
When I no longer believed in love
I didn’t ask
I didn’t hope
But you came, as if it were real
As if love were flying through the air
Stabbing the heart
Sometimes sweet
But often bitter
Unpredictable
When you said love was in the air
Then came the distance
Darkness
Fading away
Far away
And disappearing
Until one day, you were gone
I realized
It was just a game
A beautiful illusion
A feeling I mistook for love
Perhaps you never meant to stay
Perhaps I was the only one holding on
Perhaps I was the only one who called it love
And somehow,
I was trapped
In a one-sided love
So, thank you
For making believe again, in love
But this time,
I choose to quit.
